AT LAST FINALLY a LES DARCY Thread, LES DARCY is MY ALL-TIME Favorite fighter, it doesn't matter a damn if fools have forgotten his Status in his day and the next 4 decades where he was on just about EVERY Top 10 or 20 List of the best boxers of all time, I can't believe how any boxing expert can elevate far lesser greats than "THE MAITLAND WONDER" to far higher pedestals, even as far as naming some of his totally outclassed victims, he was incredibly young, incredibly strong, probably the Greatest Teenager in all boxing history, Completely dominated the cream of his opposition, many of his victims claimed he was invincible, even against the best heavyweights, Never stopped, NEVER Knocked down in his 50 fight career losing 4 (all highly controversial), and comfortably won the other 46. One of his most amazing facts about this ultimate teenage PHEE-NOM is this,... Darcy stood 5 feet 7 Inches BUT his reach measured at 6ft 2in. That's 7 whole inches longer than he was tall, a complete freak, Tex Rickard was blown away by Darcy's physique especially his reach and massive Fists, he claimed at the time, "DARCY is the finest piece of fighting machinery I've ever seen, in my opinion he is the best in the world", and Eddie McGoorty said that Les was the best man in the world, he could beat Willard or Carpentier. ,After another 50 years later Darcy has been so insulted that I saw a Thread on this Forum where some NUMBSKULL put Les Darcy as incredibly LOW PLACE some where around 240th of the TOP 400 P4P All-Time List, this Makes LES DARCY THE MOST UNDERRATED FIGHTER IN HISTORY, I would automatically PUT DARCY in the TOP 25 of all time and I've read 3 Books devoted to him and seen every footage of the 4 available to us. The films show opponents throwing the kitchen sink at Les but then 'POP" all they wanna do is clinch to stop from falling, A BIG MISTAKE, I have never seen a more devastating fighter from a clinch ever, he rips savage body shots and uppercuts and they can't stop him, at middleweight, he appears a heavyweight in there. He looks as ripped as Basilio, but much thicker, he seems a mountain, he seems VERY QUICK too (old films don't flatter anybody much), on his feet and hands. A study of him reveals something about his technique, hands halfway up but whenever they initiate contact his right hand shoots straight up to his ear, great defensive ability, he's hard to hit. Never found a weakness there, no doubt about this guy,....The Total package who would be a threat to every Middleweight who ever lived,. Just make one mistake and it's good night. Love that photo of Vanderlei Silva, how about a bare knuckle fight under London Prize ring Rules between Les Darcy and WANDY SILVA, VERY SHORT VERY BLOODY But Maitland boy does it again. VENI VIDI VICI
