I remember when Tyson had just unified the titles and everyone raved about him and saying he was unbeatable, but I disagreed even back then. I remember also back then that I used to say if anyone could beat Tyson then it was Tim Witherspoon. When fit like against Holmes he was a very good fighter, sort of reminded me of Liston with a little less power. To this day I think he threw the bonecrusher fight. There was something seriously wrong with that fight, to go down 3 times in the 1st round against a man he had already beaten. Maybe he just didn't want a part of Tyson or more likely Don King was involved. Witherspoon had his disagreements with King and maybe King was never going to give him a shot at the title and bought him, I never heard this but it's a theory I have.
The scoring in that Douglas fight has to be the worst I have ever seen and I've seen some robberies but that was criminal, luckily Douglas stopped that from being the worst decision of all time.

Tim Witherspoon sued Don King and won.....but there was a heavy price: King essentially had Witherspoon blackballed and no shot at Tyson would have been forthcoming with King controlling boxing. Later, drugs would finish the job Don King started on Witherspoon's career.
I always thought Witherspoon would be something i remember his fight with Holmes i got it on my Holmes career set and i was shocked when i watched it because i see a young Ken Norton in Tim Witherspoon except Witherspoon had better boxing skills i remembered thinking this can't be the same Witherspoon who looked like a beached whale vs Bruno or the same Witherspoon who got blitzed by Bonecrusher i was shocked.

Probably one of Don King's famed switcheroos. However I'm not sure it would have mattered, but I'm almost positive that this event is what touched off the whole Witherspoon/King legal war.

One fact that people usually miss was the Spoon's original opponent for the fight was Tony Tubbs, but Tubbs was replaced several days before with Bonecrusher.
