  • Apollo Creed vs. Clubber Lang

    what a classic fight!

Apollo Creed would have smoked Clubber Lang. First of all, he was able to train a rough, charge head first brawler like Balboa to beat him using a stick and move style, I think he wouldn't have problems put Lang to sleep. Clubber had no stamina. Even though the logic behind the film (ie: "We have to put him away quick; 15 rounds is a long time..."), is total bunk for fighting a haymaker throwing bouncer, the stick-and-move style got it done. Creed was very gifted in this style and thus, he wins in a 7th round stoppage.

Oh yeah, and the fight between Creed and Drago was rediculous: an exhibition where one man is allowed to kill another man without any intervention or stoppage when Creed took 60 consecutive punches....hmm...I always thought Rocky IV was the worst, but that's just me.

    Ramble ramble ramble...

And where are the rubber matches between Creed and Balboa, Balboa and Lang? Also, why didn't Lang hang around as a contender? Especially against Drago; two fearless wrecking machines. One, Drago, is a little awkward, but has tons of stamina. The other, Lang, a little more explosive, very pressuring, but can run out of steam. That's the match I want to see: Lang vs. Drago.

Dixon would lose to them all.

Rocky's opponents were like Bond women, gone after giving it up once.

Haha that quote is too good.

I thought about Dixon Vs. Creed, I think Dixon had enough speed to somewhat keep up with Creed. Not sure which had more stamina though, that would probably decide the match. Still I'd say Apollo by decision.

Balboa vs. Lang III needed to happen. The first two fights were over with such quick, brutal knockouts that the public would scream for a rubber match. The fighters themselves would have likely garnered huge paydays as well.

Seeing as how Lang was the younger of the two, it's also likely that he would have been passed the torch after Balboa's "win, lose, or draw, Lang II is his last fight." He supposedly retired after that fight, only to face the 264 pound Ivan Drago...another young heavyweight who should have dominated the division with Balboa's exit.

        ****** stories...

This is another thing i don't get about the Rocky Series. In the first Rocky movie one of the characters said that no opponent had ever taken Creed the distance which would mean Apollo had knocked out all of his opponents right?Apollo was world champ so apparently he had fought better opponents than Balboa and still knocked all of them out.Rocky on the other hand had lost 20 fights by time the first movie started and he was fighting club fighters.Isn't it funny how just because Rocky trained hard he was able to go the distance with a fighter superior to him?Not only that every time Rocky landed a punch on Creed it hurt him so badly.
By the time Rocky 4 started Creed had been retired for 5 years and Balboa was still fighting during this time and his body would of been more worn down than a fighter who had only lost 1 time and then retired. Why then was Apollo creed so easily defeated and killed by Drago and yet Balboa even before he fought Drago seemed to have brain damage and had been in far more wars yet he was able to take Drago's best punches and still win?Kind of ****** if you ask me and i think the movie would of been better if it went like this.
Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago should of still fought and if the Creed character had to die then i would of been better if this would of happened.Apollo came out at the best and dominated the whole first round up until the end of the round.Let's say at about 30 seconds left at the end of the round Apollo was distracted by the ref or by something else (you pick something interesting)at that moment Drago cheap shoted Creed and that punch was the one that hurt Creed.Drago then came on and punished Creed the next few rounds and then gets knocked down and out.Instead of just falling and dying pretty much instantly. It would of been better if Apollo Creed said since he couldn't beat Drago so it would be up to Rocky an then died in Balboa's arms.
It didn't have to happen exactly like that but they could of found better ways to kill off the Apollo Creed Character. The series also could of mentioned Clubber Lang in Rocky 4....they could of just said he was still a top contender or had him fight Drago. In Rocky 5 they could of mentioned both Drago and Lang but the series act like fighters from the past movies didn't exist.Well besides Apollo Creed.I like the Rocky movies but i felt they could of been better.

Apollo and Rocky settled their triology at the end of Rocky 3. It was unofficial, but they went at it again.
