This special event commemorates the 2007 Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade.

Sylvia Paskin, Writer and lecturer on film, poetry and literature presents an illustrated lecture exploring representations of the fighter in film and showing how the stark but poetic world of boxing has always held fascination for Hollywood film makers.
● Imagining ***ish Bodies

Professor Sander Gilman, the eminent cultural and literary historian and expert in the history of medicine, describes European stereotypes of the ***ish body and its antithesis in the body of the athlete.
