First of all i have a lot of respect for Lennox Lewis and i think he was a great fighter, but one thing that still bugs me is the manner in which he accepted the WBC title when Rid**** Bowe opted to dump it. Surely it must have been embarrassing, which begs the question... Could he not have refused to accept the WBC title without actually fighting for it?
Rid**** Bowe made the situation awkward by refusing to fight Lewis, and despite what he claimed at that time he was simply scared s*itless of Lewis. I think he went on to fight the drug ravaged Michael Dokes instead, while Lewis went on to face the more dangerous Tony Tucker.

Jack sharkey hit him low and max was carried to his corner unable to continue....and on his stool was awarded the bout by foul and was the new heavyweight champion. Ken Norton would've been lent a great deal of credability to his championship claim had he gotten the chance to fight Leon Spinks, instead of Spinks being stripped by one of the organizations and being awarded a vacated belt.
