  • slow punching heavy hitters,

    Hey,

I need to find some boxers who were slow when they threw their punches, buit had massive power, you know the slow sluggery types. I dont mean moving around slow I mean the punches.

I think 2 examples may be foreman and shavers??

    Any other guys?

Any weightclass, would be cool if you can give me some examples in lower weightclasses.

If you can give a link to a video when they are throwing one of these punches or tell me a fight and if you can, round. where they do that would be great

    Thanks very much!

Can't think of any off the top of my head, but I wouldn't consider Foreman a slow puncher. He wound up and drew back when he threw his shots, making the punch easier to anticipate and a longer distance to travel through, but if you watch the actual speed when he lets go of the punch, it's actually pretty good.

Shavers was blazing fast, Marciano wasn't real quick, Foreman wasn't either.

Bruno was slow, but Butterbean has very fast hands actually. Shavers was fairly quick. Marciano, Schmeling, Sandy Saddler wasn't all too quick for his size. Modern day guys, Vladimir Virchis is the harderst puncher in the heavyweight division, but is so slow and inaccurate that its amazing he hits anybody. JD Chapman can crack for a heavyweight as well, but throw him in the same category as Virchis, its just Virchis believe it or not is a little more refined of a fighter. The next guy Chad Dawson is fighting, Ruiz I believe, I've seen once on a rerun in the middle of the night fight, and he seemed to have good pop with slowish hands and so-so skills. More will come to me later.

Demetrius Jenkins was like that. He was fighting out of Galaxy at the same time as I did. Man, that cat hand some heavy ass hands, its like they gained momentum or something. Hard shots...................Rockin'
