Carlos Monzon: The greatest Middleweight ever.

Looking at his truly amazing record, and the level of competition that he has faced... Would you say that Monzon is the greatest middleweight ever?

I believe that he was thorough in all phases of the fight game, and made most wins look easy...

    Any thoughts???

I would give him the nod over Robinson at the best middleweight ever. SRR was too inconsistent at middleweight for my taste. Monzon dominated and his wins over Valdes who should have been a dominate champ give him the nod to me.

He was probably the best pure middleweight ever, though I will always hold Marvin Hagler in extremely high regard. It's just so rare to see someone employ that bully style with such stamina, and longevity (career wise) to such success.

      But yes, Monzon was amazing.

Monzon is, imo, in the top 3 MW of all time, and you can make the argument for those three to be #1

Monzon had great physical gifts for a middleweight. He was very tall for that division with long arms and great stamina. A bit like Hearns at welter, but with a chin. Fantastic jab, straight right and uppercut. Not bad for a guy reputed to be a pimp, party animal and smoker of 100 cigarettes a day.

Monzon and Hagler are the top two, SRR at middleweight and bernard hopkins are 3rd. and 4th.

Sugar Ray Robinson, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, and Carlos Monzon - probably the 3 greatest fighters ever, all middleweights.....

Monzon would have beat them both. Hagler with ease I say.

Yes he is a better mw than sugar ray robinson but ray robinson isnt the best middleweight of all time. I dont think too many people realy think that. Robinson was the best welterweight of all time. Back on topic though. Monzon is not the best middleweight of all time. Marvin hagler has that titttle in my opinion but monzon was a heck of a fighter.
