The two KO's on Lennox Lewis's Record.

With regards to the comments Lewis made after the these two defeats, do you think that Lennox Lewis should have been given the opportunity to continue after the knock downs in his first fights with Hasim Rahman and Oliver McCall?
It is my personal opinion that the Referee should have allowed the fight to continue in McCall 1, but not in Rahman 1, though Lewis has stated that the referee counted too fast in the first Rahman fight, and stopped the fight when he was getting up. Manny Steward agreed with this and claimed that he had seen fighters hurt much worse but able to continue! I don't go along with that! I think it was a 100% K.O.
    What are your thoughts?

Lewis took the ten count in the first Rahman fight, so it'd be pretty hard to disagree with the stoppage in that one...

I don't see the fast count that Lewis claims either, as I timed it at exactly ten seconds from the time Lennox hit the floor 'til the referee reached ten and waved it off (Lewis was still ****ed at that point)...A little bit faster than some referees' counts, sure, but by no means could it be classified as a "fast count" when it's on time like that.

      YUP!!

And the reason the ref stopped it in the McCall fight is because when Lewis went down, he got up struggling to stand still, and when the referee was holding his gloves, he was still wobbling for a bit. And seeing as Lewis weighted a lot, the ref must have felt the wobbling even more. And McCall got a boost of energy when Lewis was in dreamland, so the ref did his job.

In regards to the McCall stoppage, I've definetely seen worse. But if I were the referee, I would have let him continue and see if Lewis could come back. If Lewis thengot tagged with unanswered shots and seemed defenseless, then I would have stopped it. Lewis was the champion, and championship fights shouldn't be stopped that quickly.

But as for the Rahman ko, there was nothing bad about that. Lewis got floored and he simple didn't beat the count, period.

And, I will go on to say if the ref had allowed Lewis to continue in the McCall fight, which wasn't even a minute into the second at the time of the stoppage.....McCall, more than likely, would have dropped him again and stopped him. There was too much time remaining in the round and Lennox was dead center in the middle of ***** Street.

On the first Rahman fight, I'm with Yogi.

Just watched the McCall KO on YouTube, and i always thought the ref was right to stop it.

He was wobbling badly as the count reached 8, even as Lewis was protesting his legs were giving way just struggling to stand up. He would have gone down again with any punch. I doubt he would have recovered.

Also, his cornermen dont protest at all to the ref.

With the first McCall fight, he got caught with a doozy flush on the chin and there was noticeable wobbling in him and the ref erred on the side of caution. Truth is, he probably would've recovered becuz McCall wasn't that good a finisher and would've found a way to let Lewis off the hook.

With the Rahman knockout, no way in hell could he be ready to continue. First off, he was dead tired. Second, he got caught with a huge, flush shot and besides that, he hit his head VERY hard off the canvas and was in no shape to continue. He was done.
