Felix "El Diamante" Verdejo is very focused on his next bout against Costa Rican Bryan Vasquez. Verdejo (24-1, 16 KO's) will face Vasquez (37-3, 20 KO's) on April 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York as part of the undercard featuring the welterweight where Terence "Bud" Crawford will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against Amir "King" Khan.
Felix Verdejo (24-1) is just weeks away from the biggest fight of his young career. On April 20th he faced former interim champion Bryan Vasquez (37-3) on the Terence Crawford-Amir Khan pay-per-view undercard. The ESPN distributed card takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York.
2012 Puerto Rican Olympian Felix "Diamante" Verdejo (24-1) returns to the ring on April 20th against former interim super featherweight champion Bryan "Tiquito" Vasquez. The fight is part of the Terence Crawford-Amir Khan ESPN produced pay-per-view undercard.
When Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum signed Felix Verdejo to his company, he envisioned a showdown with Vasyl Lomachenko at some point in the future. Lomachenko, a two-time gold medal winner, had defeated Verdejo in the Olympic games and had plenty of praise for the Puerto Rican boxer.
Last week, Top Rank CEO's Bob Arum issued a warning that the upcoming commitment that Felix Verdejo will have on April 20 in New York, will be the last opportunity to show that he deserves to be in mix for a world title shot and to continue working with Top Rank. Those comments did not surprise the entourage of Verdejo, who signed a contract to go pro in 2012.
Puerto Rican lightweight contender Felix "Diamante" Verdejo will receive a final shot at redemption from Top Rank. The Olympian was widely viewed as a rising superstar at one point, but now his career is in limbo after several lackluster performances and suffering his first defeat last year.
Before pound-for-pound king Terence “Bud” Crawford enters the ring to defend his WBO welterweight world title against Amir “King” Khan, a pair of 21-year-old wunderkinds — Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson — will look to steal the show in their respective co-feature bouts on ESPN PPV Saturday, April 20 at Madison Square Garden.
