The WBA, in their latest ratings, declared Felix Sturm as the "super champion" with their regular title being left vacant. Sturm last fought in July and currently has no fight scheduled due to the contractual dispute with Universum. The decision from the WBA paves the way for mandatory challenger Gennadyi Golovkin to fight the highest available challenger for the regular title - but Golovkin is also involved in a contractual dispute with Universum.

WBA cruiserweight champ Guillermo Jones has not been able to defend the title he won September 27, 2008, due one reason or another (one big reason is that mandatory challenger Valery Brudov twice have dropped out of scheduled fights) and now the WBA will allow Frenchman Steve Herelius to take on Firat Arslan - the man Jones beat to the win the title and who also have been inactive since Sep 27, 08 - for the interim title. Herelius vs Arslan will go ahead in June or July in Germany.

Emil Schulz has passed away at the age of 71. Schulz won a silver at middleweight in the 64 Olympics representing West Germany. Schulz also won five German titles and a bronze in the European championships in Moscow in 63.

Albert Sosnowski has not yet relinquished the EBU heavyweight title but it´s already a fact that Audley Harrison and Michael Sprott will clash for the-soon-to-be-vacant crown April 9 in London. The winner will then have to fight mandatory challenger Alexander Dimitrenko.
