British heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley expects to score a knockout win over his mandatory challenger, unbeaten Olympian Frazer Clarke.
The two hard punchers were ordered by the British Board to collide in a mandatory showdown - with both fighters embracing the contest.
Wardley has a record of 16 wins, with 15 of those by knockout. Clarke is on the fast track, with 6 wins and 5 by way of knockout.
During some of his recent bouts, Wardley has been tagged and even rocked, but he also rallied back to knock his opponents out.
He feels strongly that a toe to toe encounter will not end well for Clarke.
"One thousand percent [I'll be the last man standing]," Wardley told Sky Sports. "Every time I've stood there and traded with someone, I've always come out on top.
"It's something I do quite often and probably against the advice of my coaches who want me to box more conservative, but everyone knows and everyone has seen that I love and live for a tear up, so if it he wants to stand face-to-face, square on, in the center and hash it out, then I'm more than happy to. I'm one thousand percent confident I'll come out on top."
While no date or deal has been reached, Wardley has explained that his potential foe has his back against the wall and must move forward with the fight.
"For it [the fight] to come immediately is probably not ideal for them, but it's irrelevant what they want, the fight has been mandated, it's going to happen and we're going to get it on. There's no way out. There's no way he can show his face anywhere if he runs away from this as well. If he pulls out for one reason, or he decides that he doesn't want the spot, then he won't be able to show his face in a boxing ring again," Wardley said.
Clarke's next bout is slated to take place on June 10 at York Hall in London. No opponent has been named.
