Swedish super lightweight Anthony Yigit (24-2-1) has decided to relocate to Miami, Florida, and will dedicate himself full time to boxing. Yigit was training in the US this past summer and was scheduled to fight on the undercard to the WBA lightweight fight between champ Rollo Romero and challenger Austin Dulay July 17 in San Antonio, Texas.

Dulay was forced to pull out and Yigit stepped in on short notice, failed to make weight and was stopped in the seventh.

This was Anthony's first fight in two years and his first ever at lightweight as a professional. He previously challenged the IBF 140-pound titleholder Ivan Baranchyk but was stopped in seven. Yigit then decided to enter acting school back home in Stockholm and made boxing his second priority. However, when the call came to spar and fight in Denmark in December, Yigit took a break from his acting career and decided to return full time to boxing.

Yigit's best win, a points win over Sandor Martin, looks of course even better after Martin beat Mickey Garcia. In the US he is managed by LPMG Boxing.

Wasserman Boxing today won the purse bid for the hugely anticipated British Middleweight Title contest between Linus Udofia and Denzel Bentley.

Udofia (17-0, 9 KOs) will now face Bentley (15-1-1, 13 KOs) for the British Title on a Wasserman Boxing promoted event with further details announced soon.

“We’re delighted to have won today’s bid and secured home advantage for Linus in what promises to be a spectacular showdown for the Lonsdale belt,” said promoter Nisse Sauerland. “We saw a brilliant fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams in Cardiff on Saturday, and now we can look forward to another mouth-watering all-British Middleweight clash.

“The British Middleweight scene is stacked full of talent but we believe Linus is ready to take over. We have a lot of exciting announcements coming up, which will include the date and location for this fantastic British Title fight.”

Udofia, now undefeated in seventeen paid contests, announced himself on the domestic scene with a points win over Tyler Denny to capture the English Title in November 2019. The Luton-man then defended his strap with a TKO win over John Harding Jr in October 2020. ‘Lightning’ will now aim to add the British Title to his collection as he faces former champion Bentley for the vacant belt.

Following the Legault government’s announcement today regarding the reopening of bars and casinos as of February 28, Eye of the Tiger is obliged to present the first event of its 10th anniversary series—featuring Arslanbek Makhmudov against Mariusz Wach for the NABF heavyweight title, as well as Simon Kean v. Shawndell Terrell Winters —behind closed doors. Although they will not be able to attend the event in person at the Cabaret du Casino de Montreal, boxing fans can follow the action from the comfort of their own home by tuning into Punching Grace, TVA Sports, or 91.9 FM as of 7:30 pm.

The EOTTM event to be held on March 3 featuring Erik Bazinyan against Reinaldo Paniagua, and Steven Butler against Hector Manuel Zepeda will, however, be presented live before the public at the Casino de Montréal, as will the March 26 event where Christian Mbilli will confront Nadjib Mohammedi and Artem Oganesyan will fight Stephen Danyo.
