IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence (23-0, 20 KOs) is ready to make a big statement when he faces mandatory challenger Carlos Ocampo (22-0, 13 KOs) of Mexico at The Ford Center at The Star in Texas.

Ocampo is a tremendous underdog who some bookies have listed as a 100-1 loser in the fight.

For Spence, this is his second defense since capturing the title last year with a knockout win over Kell Brook in Sheffield.

Regardless of being a heavy favorite in the fight, Spence is very motivated to put on a show.

He wants to make a serious in-ring statement for the local crowd in his hometown of Dallas.

"Every fight is a statement fight. It doesn't matter who I'm fighting. All eyes are on me in the welterweight division. People want to see if there are chinks in my armor, so it's important for me to put on a great performance and prove I'm the best welterweight in the division," Spence said.

"Dallas already is a boxing town, just not enough boxing comes here. I can be the star who has annual fights and bring the city out like we're doing Saturday night. I'm going to prove we're a boxing city in Dallas and that Texas is a boxing state period. I do this for the whole state.

"We work hard every camp and we're 100 percent dedicated. There hasn't been much difference in this camp than normal. The sparring with Jermell Charlo was top quality and has me prepared for Saturday night."

Should Spence win, he wants a unification in his next fight - which includes the winner of the upcoming WBC fight between Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia, WBO champion Terence Crawford and WBA champion Keith Thurman.

"I'm ready to line up those other champions. I've said that since I was 15-0. I want to fight every opponent and take them out no matter who it is. I'm here to prove that I'm the best in the division," Spence said.
