45-year-old former world champion Glen Johnson (54-19-2, 37KOs) is training hard at Jorge Rubio's gym in Miami, Florida. Johnson was going to retire from boxing after getting dominated by George Gorves in December of 2012. It was the boxer's fourth loss in a row and his fifth defeat in six bouts. But then he returned to the ring in April of 2013. In his last ring appearance against Ilunga Makabu in June, Johnson suffered his first career TKO loss since a 1997 stoppage loss to Bernard Hopkins. Johnson is back in action on December 13th, when he faces undefeated Danish contender Erik Skoglund in Albertslund, Denmark.

Copenhagen, Denmark - Sauerland Promotions´ show at the TAP 1 Arena opened with Swedish heavyweight Adrian Granat (or Granate as the Germans have it). Granat (5-0, 4) outscored durable Czech journeyman Tomas Mrazek (9-48-6) over six. Granat, promoted by EC Boxing in Hamburg, won every round clearly and worked the body well with hooks from both hands. Mrazek however was tough and got through with a southpaw left every now and then and it was a good learning fight for the Swede. It was scored 60-54 twice and 60-53.

The EBU have announced that Erik Skoglund´s defence of the EBU-EU light heavyweight title against Stefano Abateangelo (18-3-1) will go ahead September 13 in Copenhagen. It´s a mandatory defence by the undefeated Skoglund (20-0). In the co-headliner WBA, WBO and WBC female welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus will reportedly defend the titles against Croatian Ivana Habazin.
