WBC junior welterweight champion Erik Morales plans to hold the next portion of his training camp at the Otomi Ceremonial Center in Mexico. Morales is training for his upcoming defense on March 24th at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas - and faces undefeated Danny Garcia in the main event.
Erik stated that he will keep a close eye on the big doubleheader on May 19th in Las Vegas, where Lamont Peterson will defend his WBA/IBF junior welterweight titles in a rematch with Amir Khan, and the evening's co-feature will have Lucas Matthysse and Humberto 'Zorrita' Soto clashing in a high stakes bout at 140-pounds. Morales will also watch the welterweight bout between Marcos Maidana and Devon Alexander on February 25th.
"With Golden Boy I have a lot of possibilities. But right now I have a real important commitment with a young, tough opponent. The fight will be hard, but I'm convinced that I can beat him," Morales said.
