Former title challengers Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (22-1) and Terrell Gausha (21-1-1) return to action Saturday night when they square off in a Showtime main event. The fight takes place at the Mohegan Sun and like most sporting events during the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be in an environment without fans.

Super welterweight contender Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (22-1) is in the middle of his training camp for his September 19th showdown against Terrell Gausha (21-1-1).
Showtime recently announced their schedule for the rest of 2020. Among the fights scheduled is a 154 pound showdown pitting former title challengers Erickson "The Hammer" Lubin (22-1) and Terrell Gausha (22-1-1).
Erickson Lubin and Terrell Gausha are once again in each other’s way. A junior middleweight crossroads bout that never saw that light of day last October has been repurposed as part of a stacked Showtime lineup that includes more than 25 televised fights over the next five months. Lubin and Gausha will now have the chance to renew their rivalry, as they will square off atop a September 19 tripleheader live on Showtime from Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Erickson "The Hammer" Lubin (22-1) and Terrell Gausha (21-1-1) were supposed to face each other on October 26th in a Showtime televised main event. However, the two super welterweight title contenders didn't square off because Gausha suffered a hand injury in his training camp which caused him to pull out of the bout. Lubin ended up defeating late replacement Nathaniel Gallimore via unanimous decision to close out his 2019 campaign at 3-0.
With parity alive and well in the junior middleweight division, there is virtually no outcome at the top level that comes as a surprise these days. Case in point, the most recent changing of the guard in a division whose title picture has served as a revolving door in recent years. Jeison Rosario (20-1-1, 14KOs) became the latest to upset the apple cart, scoring a stunning 5th round stoppage of Julian ‘J-Rock’ Williams to dethrone the defending unified titlist this past January in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Erickson "Hammer" Lubin (22-1) is on the cusp of getting a second chance at a world title. In 2017 Lubin was caught cold and stopped with a single punch by WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo in Brooklyn, New York.
Erickson Lubin must win a WBC elimination match if he hopes to get another shot at that sanctioning organization’s super welterweight title. Lubin is the WBC’s number one contender at 154 pounds, but he is not yet its mandatory challenger for champion Jermell Charlo. Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the WBC, has informed BoxingScene.com that Lubin must win an eliminator to become its mandatory challenger again.
Jermell Charlo can’t see any reason why he should have to fight Erickson Lubin again. Charlo knocked out Lubin, his mandatory challenger, with one perfectly executed right hand in the first round of their fight for Charlo’s WBC super welterweight title in October 2017. Lubin is 4-0 since Charlo beat him, however, and is once again the WBC’s number one contender for Charlo’s championship.
