Erickson Lubin: record, next fight and profile →
Although it’s been years since Keith Thurman openly ignored the perpetual call-outs of a young up-and-coming Errol Spence Jr., the current unified champion at 147 pounds is still holding a grudge.
The mandatory challenger for Jermall Charlo’s WBC middleweight title will instead fight another opponent Charlo has beaten in his next fight. Showtime revealed Tuesday that Carlos Adames will defend his WBC interim middleweight title against Julian Williams in the 12-round main event of a tripleheader the network will televise June 24 from The Armory in Minneapolis. The three-bout broadcast also will include a junior middleweight bout between Erickson Lubin and Luis Arias.
Erickson Lubin was so close to earning his second shot at a world title, he could essentially taste it. After having a disastrous showing against Jermell Charlo in 2017, the Florida native dusted himself off and began to wreak havoc on the rest of the junior middleweight division.
With his fists clenched in frustration, Erickson Lubin believes that he was just one win away from returning to the scene of the crime. In October of 2017, after racking up a spotless record, Lubin (24-2, 17 KOs) stood across the ring from Jermell Charlo.
Before Erickson Lubin would lay his head to rest at night, the newly turned 26-year-old envisioned a roaring crowd standing on its feet while he clutched a junior middleweight world title. With six consecutive victories under his belt since his jaw-dropping defeat at the hands of Jermell Charlo several years ago, Lubin remained confident that his championship aspirations were well on their way.
Danny Garcia begrudgingly looked down at the scales, sweat dripping profusely from his brow before ultimately making his decision. While he thoroughly enjoyed his time in the welterweight division, the Philadelphia native knew good and well that squeezing down his fairly big frame to the 147-pound weight limit was no longer a possibility.
It’s been two days since Mental Health Awareness Month ended, but junior middleweight contender Erickson Lubin won’t stop doing his part to get the word out about an important topic.
One of the most respectful and personable fighters in boxing, brand new WBC Interim Super Welterweight Champion, Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora, wishes to send his warmest wishes for a quick recovery to brave challenger Erickson “Hammer” Lubin.
Upon announcement, Sebastian Fundora-Erickson Lubin was the sort of scrap fight fans knew to look forward to. Both young, both hungry, both with question marks, Fundora-Lubin was a fight that was going to tell us something. It was going to be hard for it not to be a good fight.
LAS VEGAS – Tony Harrison had a ringside seat Saturday night for one of the more brutal boxing matches you could witness in person. The former WBC super welterweight champion came away from it more impressed with Erickson Lubin than ever. He still wondered whether Lubin should continue his career after absorbing that type of damage to his face during a technical-knockout loss to Sebastian Fundora in their fantastic fight for the WBC interim super welterweight championship.
