Eric Molina: record, next fight and profile →
Former heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53KOs) is hoping to face the very best Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17KOs) in April of next year. Klitschko will be ringside on Saturday night in Manchester, when Joshua defends his IBF heavyweight title against Eric Molina on Sky Sports Box Office.
World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua fights Eric Molina on Saturday, but all the talk this week has been about who the Briton could fight next. Joshua's second defence of his IBF world crown might not be generating as much excitement and anticipation as his previous fights, but much is on the line.
Former two division world champion David Haye has also been quoted in the national press airing his views on Saturday's fight, saying he can see 34-year-old Eic Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) potentially being knocked out in the first round by IBF heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs).
Anthony Joshua says he's not getting distracted by a scheduled meeting with Wladimir Klitschko next year. The IBF heavyweight champion has told Newsbeat he's "mentally strong enough" to focus on his fight with American Eric Molina first. The pair meet in Manchester on Saturday. But Joshua had been close to agreeing a bout with Klitschko on that date, before the Ukrainian picked up a "minor injury".
Anthony Joshua has no doubt that as "the guy who should beat Wladimir Klitschko" he must defeat Eric Molina in style this weekend. Joshua makes the second defence of his IBF world heavyweight title when he takes on Texan Molina at Manchester Arena on Saturday night.
Deontay Wilder was surprised to learn Eric Molina said last week he considers Anthony Joshua a better fighter than Wilder. Wilder knocked out Molina in the ninth round of their June 2015 fight for Wilder’s WBC heavyweight title. Since then, Wilder recalls reading and hearing that Molina complimented him following their fight.

NEW YORK – WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder will join the SHOWTIME announce team as a guest analyst for the IBF Heavyweight World Championship fight between undefeated champion Anthony Joshua and American challenger Eric Molina on Saturday, Dec. 10, live on SHOWTIME (5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT).
If strength of schedule had anything to do with a boxer’s ranking, Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs), of Weslaco, Texas, might be rated amongst the top boxers in his division. Consider: In June of last year, Molina went to Birmingham, Ala., to challenge undefeated WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs). Molina, a prohibitive underdog, lost but had his moments, including staggering Wilder with a wicked shot in the third round.
According to former undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, ex-division king Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53KOs) is still the man to beat at heavyweight.
