Ryan Garcia plans to show off everything he’s learned and worked on during his training camp under the direction of new head trainer Joe Goossen.

If anyone can relate to Ryan Garcia’s decision to change head trainers once again, it’s his own promoter. The recent news of Garcia entering training camp with world-class cornerman Joe Goossen after having spent more than three years under the guidance of Eddy Reynoso came as a surprise to many, and with mixed reviews. Among those who supported the move is Oscar de la Hoya

Undefeated lightweight contender Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) will finally return to the ring next month. when he faces Ghana’s Emmanuel “The Gameboy” Tagoe (32-1, 15KOs).

Ryan Garcia is set for his ring return. The moment will come versus a previously explored opponent, as the unbeaten lightweight contender will face Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe. Terms were finalized Friday afternoon for the fight, which will take place atop an April 9 DAZN show from Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Emmanuel Tagoe didn’t defeat Mason Menard nearly as impressively as Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney, but Tagoe won their 10-round lightweight fight Friday night. The 135-pound contender from Ghana overcame Menard by majority decision on the Daniel Jacobs-Gabe Rosado undercard at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Judges Fernando Barbosa (96-94) and Carlos Sucre (98-92) scored their fight for Tagoe, but judge Michael Ross had it a draw (95-95).

Daniel Jacobs’ weigh-in Thursday was a little less predictable and a lot less lucrative than the last time he had to step on the scale the day before a fight. Brooklyn’s Jacobs and Philadelphia’s Gabe Rosado met their contractual obligations without incident Thursday for their 12-round super middleweight match Friday night in Hollywood, Florida. Jacobs stepped on the Florida State Boxing Commission’s scale at 167.6 pounds, slightly lighter than Rosado, who officially weighed exactly 168 pounds.

World Ranked Lightweight Emmanuel ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe, (31-1, 15 KOs), of Accra, Ghana will make his United States debut this Friday, November 27 against battle-tested veteran Mason Menard, (36-4, 25 KOs), of Rayne, Louisiana.

World Ranked Lightweight Emmanuel Tagoe, (31-1, 15 KOs), of Accra, Ghana is currently training at the renowned Sweatbox Boxing Gym in Davie, FL under the guidance of trainer Javiel Centeno preparing for his second fight in the United States. Ranked #3 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Tagoe is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and managed by Peter Kahn’s Fight Game Advisors.

Emmanuel Tagoe’s dream of fighting for the World Boxing Organization lightweight title is forced to be placed on hold. The San Juan, Puerto Rico-headquartered sanctioning body made waves in a number of ways on Monday, beginning with its first ratings update since the start of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Interesting, there didn’t exist any movement in the lightweight division, where the two highest rated contenders—Lee Selby and Ryan Garcia—are actively pursuing title opportunities with other sanctioning bodies in lieu of entering a WBO-sanctioned final eliminator.
