Efe Ajagba: record, next fight and profile →
Efe Ajagba resumed his knockout ways. The 2016 Nigerian Olympian and rising heavyweight contender made a statement in an emphatic 3rd round knockout of Brian Howard. A right hand put Howard down and out in their ESPN-televised chief support Saturday evening on in front of a sold-out crowd at Osage Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Two months later, Joe Smith Jr. and Maxim Vlasov are ready to fight. Both boxers made weight for their WBO light heavyweight title fight, which takes place Saturday evening live in front of a sold-out crowd at Osage Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Smith (26-3, 21KOs) weighed 174.8 pounds in his bid to become just the fourth-ever boxer from Long Island (New York) to win a major title. Russia’s Vlasov (45-3, 26KO) tipped the scale at 175 pounds for his first major title fight.
Joe “The Beast” Smith Jr. and Maxim Vlasov are headed to the Sooner State to fight for the vacant WBO light heavyweight world title Saturday, April 10 at Osage Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Demsey McKean has turned his attention to Efe Ajagba, with the pair having a mutual opponent in Jonathan Rice, and McKean arguably coming out in better fashion than Ajagba.

Efe Ajagba hoped to make more of a statement in his first fight under new management. Instead, the heavyweight prospect had to settle for winning tonight and looking good the next time. Ajagba remains perfect as a pro, claiming a ten-round decision over Jonnie Rice in their ESPN+ televised contest Saturday evening at The Bubble in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bob Arum isn’t sure about the pace at which his promotional company will move heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba. Arum and his matchmakers will have a better sense of the unbeaten Nigerian’s readiness for tougher fights after he faces Jonnie Rice on Saturday night in Las Vegas (ESPN+). If Ajagba annihilates Rice in their scheduled 10-rounder in Las Vegas, his handlers likely will allow him to take some semblance of a step up in competition in his second fight for Arum’s Top Rank.
Even during a pandemic, Efe Ajagba managed to accomplish everything that a boxer can get done in order to stay ready for a fight. All that he needed was for the phone to ring. “Even though I haven’t been in the ring, I have done everything to stay in shape,” Ajagba told BoxingScene.com of how he has spent the past six months. “I have been training a lot. We have done a lot of sparring, a lot of swimming, a lot of jogging.
