Daniel Dubois says he plans to have a holiday in the Caribbean following his one-round blast-out of Ebenezer Tetteh but admits that he does not know if he will be able to take a break from training.

Dubois says he has not really considered going on holiday before and admits the heavyweight might feel restless if he ends up trying to relax on a beach.

“I am taking two weeks off from the gym, I have never been but my dad is from Grenada so it would be good to finally go,” Dubois said.

“I have never really had time for a holiday before this, all my travelling before has been for boxing. I went Chicago a few weeks ago with my sister and still ended up in a gym.

“I might find it tough putting my feet up and relaxing with a few alcohol-free cocktails but I'll give it my best shot.”

The 22-year-old says his confidence has skyrocketed since he beat Nathan Gorman to win the British title in July and he was convinced he would beat Tetteh early, a win that handed him the vacant British title.

“I went into the fight with an open mind but 100 per cent convinced I was going to win, however it came,” he said.

“I did feel I was going to do him in the first round, with the power I possess I just knew I had to pick my shots.

“The Gorman win did help a lot, it set me up for a lot of things. Now I am just building on that and tightening up on my game, soon I will be unbeatable. I had such a one-track mind, I knew he had nothing that could stop me.

“I am now the British and Commonwealth champion, I am doing things that only the greats like Prince Naseem (Hamed) and Nigel Benn did.”

Dubois, who is trained by Martin Bowers at the Peacock Gym in East London, says that he always works had on his boxing and wants to be known as more than a big puncher.

“My jab is a dangerous weapon and I never overlook the fundamentals and basics of boxing and they pay dividends against every sort of fighter you can face,” Dubois said.

“My confidence is totally real, I try to just be a real person and bragging or being boastful isn't me. Genuinely, from my heart, I believe I am the best.

“I have been told that guys like David Price and Dereck Chisora have turned down fights with me, but maybe uncle Frank (Warren) will just have to put up more money now.”

Don’t expect Dubois to get in a slagging match with any rivals, though. He does not even have a smart phone and admits that others handle his social media accounts.

“I don't get involved in talking to any of my rivals, I am only at the start of my career so I cannot afford any distractions or slip-ups,” he said. “My performances should have sent a shockwave of a message out. These guys need to know I am coming.”
