Maritim Hotel, Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany  - In a battle of two unbeatens, WBO #4 rated light heavyweight Dominic Boesel (18-0, 6 KOs) looked great against Vienna-based Kosovo-born Albanian Shpetim Shala, dealing him his first career loss and retaining his WBO I/C 175lb title for the third consecutive time.

The fight was the main event of the milestone 100th evening of boxing by SES, a German promotional company led by Ulf Steinforth.

Boesel used his boxing skills to frustrate aggressive but plodding Shala. He was better in the first three rounds, retained his composure later in middle rounds under heavy fire by Shala, and did what he should to close the show in style. Scores were: 98-92, 98-92, and 97-93 - all for Boesel. Shala drops down to 19-1-1, 8 KOs.

In a major shocker, previously undefeated cruiserweight young gun Dennis Ronert, known as the Bomber vom Rhein, was taken to school in later rounds and then defeated by 38-year old fight veteran Kai Kurzawa, who improves to 36-4, with 24 KOs. Kurzawa was on the brink of defeat several times in the fight, was down twice and was almost stopped by his own corner but managed to get a narrow majority decision in the very end of this epic battle.

IBF #8 Ronnert, 22, started very confidently, dropping Kurzawa with a wicked body shot in round one. He was also better in the second but Kurzawa started to turn things around with a natural display of his overwhelming experience. He sneaked in stiff jabs, bobbed and weaved at the ropes and had Ronert's nose bleeding to the fourth round.

Still the best of Ronert was yet to come. In the sixth, the young German stormed in and dropped his opponent down - this time a head shot - again. Kurzawa was hurt, and he was also badly hurt in the seventh, provoking his cornermen to appear at the ring apron with a towel. Yet, the veteran had found something to make a drastic turnaround with a freaky right hand at the very end of the one-sided seventh (not in his favour) to almost knock Ronert out.

Sensing his rare chance, Kurzawa increased his punch output and gradually took the fight under his control. Both combatants rumbled it to the very end however. Finally, one judge saw the fight a draw: 113-113, while the other two had Kurzawa prevailing just a bit with a 114-112 score. Kurzawa, a winner with a MD, is now the IBF International 200lb champion. Ronert suffers his first defeat and sees his record going down to 23-1, 16 KOs.

Tom Schwarz (11-0, 8 KOs), another German heavyweight hope, didn't disappoint, finishing off Croatian Jacov Gospic (15-11, 11 KOs) within three one-sided rounds. Time of stoppage was 2:32 of the third round.

------------------

Undefeated middleweight Domenic von Chrzanowski (17-0-1, 9 KOs) showed his limitations in a fight against overmatched Hungarian Istvan Zeller (16-5, 4 KOs), who was stopped four times before. Von Chrzanowski landed cleaner and visibly heavier blows but was unable to send Zeller down at least once. Scores were: 99-91 (x2) and 100-90 - for the new German International middleweight champion.

------------------

Cruiserweight pro debutant Adam Deines looked solid in outboxing experienced and ultra durable Pole Luasz Rusiewicz (now 18-19, 9 KOs) over four. Scores were 40-36, 40-36 and 39-37 - for Deines.

Cruiserweight Tom Pahlmann (8-0, 3 KOs) made an easy work of hapless Hungarian cannon fodder named Balazs Horvath (12-11, 4 KOs), stopping him with a use of his stinging uppercuts. Horvath, who was stopped in all but one of his losses, was dropped down twice by the 20-year old German before the fight was stopped at 1:52 of the second round.
