Dmitry Bivol: record, next fight and profile →
Technically, Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo' Alvarez holds world titles in three difference weight divisions. He has the WBA world title at middleweight, the WBA "regular" title at super middleweight, and the WBO title at light heavyweight.
LAS VEGAS – Dmitry Bivol doesn’t have a gut feeling regarding whether Sergey Kovalev will box again. Whatever Kovalev decides to do, Bivol believes Kovalev has firmly established his legacy among boxing fans in his native Russia. Bivol, a Russian citizen who was born in Kyrgyzstan, commended Kovalev for his performance against Canelo Alvarez and for what the three-time light heavyweight champion accomplished in his 10-year pro career.
LAS VEGAS – Now that Canelo Alvarez has knocked out Sergey Kovalev, a younger, undefeated light heavyweight champion wants his shot at the Mexican superstar. Dmitry Bivol scouted Alvarez from a ringside seat Saturday night, when Alvarez knocked Kovalev unconscious in the 11th round of what had been a very competitive 175-pound title fight. The WBA light heavyweight champion left MGM Grand Garden certain that he wants Alvarez next.
Fatigue was the big factor in Saturday's fight between Sergey Kovalev and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Canelo moved up in weight by two full divisions and scored an eleventh round knockout over Kovalev to capture the WBO light heavyweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes IBF, WBC light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KOs), says a unification with WBA champion Dmitry Bivol is very possible for 2020. Last Friday night in Philadelphia, Beterbiev broke down and stopped undefeated Oleksandr Gvozdyk to unify the WBC, IBF titles.
PHILADELPHIA – Now that Artur Beterbiev has beaten one previously undefeated light heavyweight champion, Bob Arum hopes to match the Russian knockout artist against another one in 2020. If Beterbiev successfully makes a mandatory defense of his IBF 175-pound championship against China’s Fanlong Meng early next year, Arum intends to put together a bout between Beterbiev and WBA champion Dmitry Bivol.
World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is very eager to fight with his compatriot Artur Beterbiev. On Saturday night in Philadelphia, Beterbiev upset the odds when he knocked out Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdik in a unification clash. In wining, Beterbiev defended the belt of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and captured the title of World Boxing Council (WBC).
Dmitry Bivol is willing to do whatever it takes to secure one of the light heavyweight title unification fights he wants. Eddie Hearn, whose company is one of three promoters with which Bivol works, told BoxingScene.com that Bivol wants to fight the winner of the Artur Beterbiev-Oleksandr Gvozdyk bout as soon as possible in 2020. Bivol would be more than willing, according to Hearn, to face the Beterbiev-Gvozdyk victor on ESPN as well.
