LAS VEGAS – Dmitry Bivol will be the eighth world champion Canelo Alvarez will have faced in his past 10 fights after Saturday night. NEW YORK – Don’t count Callum Smith among those who sense easy work is ahead for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The former WBA light heavyweight titlist remains convinced that Alvarez (57-1-2, 39KOs)—Smith’s lone conqueror—will have all sorts of fits against the naturally bigger Dmitry Bivol (19-0, 11KOs) this Saturday at T-Mobile Arena
The World Boxing Association (WBA) spoke to four of their world champions to obtain their analysis and predictions for this Saturday’s fight between undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
By Keith Idec - LAS VEGAS – The scoring controversies caused by multiple Canelo Alvarez’s fights in the self-proclaimed “Fight Capital of the World” are well documented. CJ Ross scored his obvious loss to Floyd Mayweather a draw, 114-114, in September 2013 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Levi Martinez scored Alvarez a 117-111 winner over Erislandy Lara in a 12-round split decision that seemingly
Former super middleweight champion and top light heavyweight contender, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (43-0, 39 KOs), is fully focused on his May 14th opponent, German Dominic Boesel (32-2, 12 KOs), not the winner of this week’s fight between Zurdo’s fellow countryman, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, and World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.
Canelo Alvarez sees no reason to abandon his long standing ring philosophy in his next fight. The 31-year-old Mexican superstar and current undisputed 168-pound champion is set to take on WBA light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol of Russia in a 12-round, 175-pound title bout May 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view event, promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, will be streamed live on DAZN.
By Thomas Gerbasi - Less than a month before Saul “Canelo” Alvarez invaded the light heavyweight division for the first time and knocked out Sergey Kovalev in 11 rounds in November 2019, Dmitry Bivol was preparing for another defense of his WBA title, which turned out to be a near-shutout 12-round victory over Lenin Castillo.

The first two fights of Canelo Alvarez’s three-fight reunion with DAZN and Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing were revealed earlier this year. If the Mexican icon defeats Dmitry Bivol on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Alvarez will move back down from the 175-pound division to the 168-pound limit for his long-awaited third showdown with rival Gennadiy Golovkin on September 17 at a venue to be determined. A third pay-per-view fight against an unknown opponent would conclude DAZN’s new agreement with Alvarez.
By Lyle Fitzsimmons - All of a sudden, he's a generational talent. It seems like only yesterday – or at least not too long ago – that Canelo Alvarez was a precocious phenom being touted by his promotional apparatus as a lock to be a superstar.
