Super Middleweight Star Diego Pacheco Says His Daughter Is His Motivation

Richardson Hitchins and Gustavo Lemos face off outside the Fontainebleau Las Vegas for the first time during fight week. The two will fight in the main event of a Matchroom boxing card on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Bleaulive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

Paulie Malignaggi believes that the fact there are so many undefeated stars at super middleweight highlights a fundamental problem in boxing in that the best are not fighting the best frequently enough.

Diego Pacheco hopes to fight Edgar Berlanga later this year, but the emerging, unbeaten super middleweight will have to get through another undefeated opponent first.

Diego Pacheco could not have been more pleased to hear Edgar Berlanga’s team finally mention his name. A once-unthinkable matchup between the pair of unbeaten super middleweights has now been teased as a possibility for later this year. Brooklyn’s Berlanga is currently due to face Belfast’s Paidrag McCrory (18-0, 9KOs) atop a February 24 DAZN show from Orlando, Florida.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has an idea for an attractive in-house matchup for next year. The Matchroom head suggested his company may look into making a super middleweight bout in 2024 between two of their clients: New York-based Puerto Rican Edgar Berlanga and rising star Diego Pacheco, a Los Angeles native of Mexican descent.

Don’t call Diego Pacheco a prospect. Although he’s barely allowed to drink, he believes he’s more than ready to take on some of the super middleweight division’s best.
