Denzel Bentley: record, next fight and profile →
First up, we are back at York Hall where our prospects will take centre stage, before attention will switch to Las Vegas and our man Denzel Bentley attempting to dethrone the feared world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly and fulfil a dream.
By Keith Idec - Denzel Bentley still believes he is a better fighter than Felix Cash. The British middleweight made some changes, though, after suffering a third-round, technical-knockout defeat to Cash that initially bounced Bentley out of position for a 160-pound title shot. This is the first title defense for Janibek, who was elevated from interim champion after Demetrius Andrade elected to move up in weight.
Denzel Bentley simply smiled as Janibek Alimkhanuly intensely stared into his eyes Friday afternoon. Alimkhanuly assured his optional challenger that he won’t have much to smile about Saturday night when they fight in Las Vegas. THE MONTH OF November we have mapped out should certainly go off with a good few bangs – and not just the ones we will hear in and around Bonfire Night.
Janibek Alimkhanuly has a clearer vision of what lies ahead with a win in his next fight. The reigning WBO middleweight titlist is set for his first defense, which will come against England’s Denzel Bentley atop a November 12 ESPN+ show from The Palms in Las Vegas. The bout has already come with the blessing of the WBO, who ruled on Thursday during its annual convention that the winner must next face mandatory challenger Jaime Munguia within 180 days.
WBO middleweight world champion Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly, a southpaw power puncher from Kazakhstan, will make the first defense of his title against two-time British champion Denzel Bentley on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
