Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes lightweight star Ryan Garcia, promises something very 'special' will be in store for his boxer's next fight.

Back in January, Garcia made a big statement at 135-pounds when he recovered from a hard knockdown in the second round to score a seventh round bodyshot knockout of 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell to capture the interim-WBC title.

"I need Ryan on top of the boxing world, I need him to make the decisions. Ryan Garcia literally has the world in the palm of his hands. Ryan just has to let us do our job, that's all," De La Hoya explained to DAZN.

"So we are excited about Ryan. He is the real deal. They dropped him in the second round, he came back and showed what it's all about. "

Garcia is expected to fight again in the coming months.

There has been some talk of Garcia facing former world champion Javier Fortuna.

De La Hoya plans to meeting with Garcia in the next few days to discuss the possibilities.

"We have something special in line for Ryan. I'll sit down with him next week. And we'll present him with a plan that will lead to world title status. That will lead to stardom. So we're excited about Ryan. He's the real deal," De La Hoya said.

As far as the next opponent, De La Hoya says his boxer is in a very strange position - because all of the world champions at 135-pounds are currently calling him out.

"Ryan is in a unique position, all of the world champions are calling him out instead of him calling out all of the world champions. So, it's a unique position. We just have to be very smart in how we plan his career," De La Hoya said.
