Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, the promoter of IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31KOs), predicts a new superstar will be born on Saturday night when his fighter trades punches with WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) in their HBO Pay-Per-View unification showdown.

The fight takes place on October 17th from New York's Madison Square Garden.

De La Hoya is extending support to Lemieux on every possible level. He's provided pointers, along with Golden Boy partner Bernard Hopkins, to give Lemieux an added edge in the contest.

Golovkin's rise has increased with every fight and Lemieux is viewed by some as the perfect opponent for GGG to make a splash in his PPV debut.

De La Hoya feels Lemieux is not just a puncher. He views him as the better boxer and credits that aspect as being the difference in the contest.

"With David, not only can he hit hard - he can also take the punch, and he can box. I believe that's what's going to be the difference - his boxing ability, his stiff jab, moving his head, he's in great shape. I strongly feel that David Lemieux is going to shock the world on October 17th,"  De La Hoya stated in a video interview on BoxingScene.com.

"Lemieux is a younger fighter. This is the perfect opportunity. It's now his shot at superstardom. Him beating Triple G will take his career to new heights, so I'm sure that after October 17th we'll be hearing more from David Lemieux."

"Yes people are giving the edge to Golovkin, but a lot of people know that David Lemieux brings a lot to the table, so it's going to be a fun night, it's going to be a very entertaining night of boxing. I'm really looking forward to it."
