Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who handles Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs), is shocked with the anger that he sees from his top fighter.

Canelo is training hard for the upcoming rematch with WBC, WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs).

The second fight will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at a special time of 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.

The two boxers fought to a controversial twelve round split draw in September 2017.

The fight was scheduled for May 5 - but it was postponed when Canelo tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol back in February. He was suspended for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

When the positive test came down, Golovkin and his head trainer, Abel Sanchez, accused Canelo of being a long term user of performance enhancing drugs. Golovkin even questioned whether or not Canelo was clean for their first meeting.

They also verbally attacked Canelo over his tactics in the first meeting - as they claim the two-division champion refused to fight like a "true Mexican" and "ran" during the fight.

Canelo has become enraged after hearing all of the verbal barbs being thrown in his direction, and he wants to issue his own level of payback.

De La Hoya wants Canelo to close the show with a knockout victory - in order to close the mouths of Golovkin and Sanchez.

"This fight is something different. This fight is personal. I've never seen Canelo so angry. He really wants to knock Golovkin out. As a promoter, I want to see him knock Golovkin out. This fight is every important for Mexican people. This is a Mexican date, and I'm excited we can bring fans an exciting and memorable event during Mexican Independence Day Weekend," De La Hoya said.
