Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is confident that sooner or later a Mexican mega-match between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will happen. Alvarez and Chavez are going head to head on Mexican television on December 4. Alvarez faces IBO welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou in Mexico and Chavez will take on Alfonso Gomez in California.
Once both fighters are a little more seasoned and capture world titles, De La Hoya thinks the fight will happen.
"I don't think it will happen right now, but I am convinced that once the two of them become world champions, then the big fight that all of Mexico is expecting will happen," De La Hoya said.
