Talks for the biggest heavyweight fight in New Zealand are heating up. As reported last week, David Higgins of event management company Duco Ltd, put a big offer on the table to make a fight between hometown rivals David Tua and Shane Cameron. The two sides spoke about the fight over the last two weeks and a sizable offer was made to Cameron.
Cameron's manager Ken Reinsfield says they are not happy with the money and want the fight to take place in June, instead of the proposed month of March. Tua's promoter Cedric Kushner, says the money involved is more than Cameron has made in his entire career and they are not willing to wait until June to make the fight. Reinsfield also wants a share of the promotional rights because he feels Higgins is inexperienced with the promotional end. Kushner says if a deal is not reached by Friday, the offer is off the table.
"If it won't happen then, it won't happen," Kushner said to the Sunday Star-Times .
