There are a lot of rumors swirling around the immediate future of former IBF middleweight titlist David Lemieux. Will he be on the Saul Alvarez-Liam Smith undercard on September 17th and will he face Curtis Stevens?

Camille Estephan, the head of Eye of the Tiger Management, told BoxingScene.com on Monday,"What's happening with David, honestly, we had to wait for 'Canelo' to make a decision on what he was going to do because HBO wants to set up their schedule around 'Canelo' and (Gennady) Golovkin. So 'Canelo' took a little time given he was in court, there were delays but that decision has been made for September 17th."

"Then the other thing was Golovkin, who is now resolved with (Kell) Brook so now HBO is now in Russia, Peter (Nelson) is there for (Sergey) Kovalev. So once that's done the next dossier on the table of us ideally is David would fight at home in September in Montreal and that's what we're waiting for."

Estephan also mentioned October as a possible date for Lemieux, who on May 7th stopped Glen Tapia on the Alvarez-Amir Khan undercard at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

As for the possibility of facing Stevens, Estephan stated - "I think that's a fight HBO would approve and it's one of the names that are out there. That's a possibility it happens, yes."

And down the line Lemieux and Alvarez is a possibility - once the Mexican star begins to work his way back to the middleweight class.

"Alvarez went back to 154, it's a fight I think will be very big one day,'' said Estephan. "But it has to be at 160. I think eventually it's a fight that's going to happen. If 'Canelo' is not at 160 now, he'll be there later I believe."
