Dangerous middleweight contender David Lemieux (33-2, 31KOs) of Canada is ready to face WBA/IBO/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs), sooner than later - if the Kazakhstan puncher is the most lucrative option on the table.
Lemieux recently made his HBO debut last December with a battering of tough Gabe Rosado. Golovkin has a long term deal with HBO and a showdown with Lemieux seems inevitable if the two boxers continue to win.
Golovkin returns this coming Saturday night in Monaco, when he faces Martin Murray. The winner will become the mandatory challenger to WBC middleweight Miguel Cotto, but few insiders are expecting Cotto to face the winner of the match.
"Gennady Golovkin, I would love to fight him. It would be a very good fight with him, it would be a great fight for everybody but there is a lot of different middleweights also, but whoever best deal is what I’m looking for right now, if Gennady Golovkin is gonna have the best deal then for sure I would love to fight him or whoever is ready to give us the best deal and that’s who we want, it’s part of the game," Lemieux told On The Ropes Boxing Radio .
