Danny Garcia: record, next fight and profile →
NEW YORK – Danny Garcia laughed off Ivan Redkach biting him on his left shoulder during the eighth round of their fight Saturday night. “He has new teeth, too, got some brand-new veneers,” Garcia joked during a post-fight press conference early Sunday morning at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. “He was puttin’ them bad boys to work. I got a fresh veneer scar on my neck!”

By Keith Idec - NEW YORK – Other than that Ivan Redkach fought from a left-handed stance, not much of what Redkach presented Saturday night replicated what Garcia should expect from Manny Pacquiao or Errol Spence Jr. Garcia basically beat up an overmatched Redkach for most of their 12-round welterweight fight and cruised to a unanimous...
Danny Garcia, Ivan Redkach Scorecard BoxingScene Live - The heavy favorite was slightly heavier than his opponent at the weigh-in Friday for the Danny Garcia-Ivan Redkach fight Saturday night. Philadelphia’s Garcia, 31, stepped on the New York State Athletic Commission’s scale at the welterweight maximum of 147 pounds. Ukraine’s Redkach, 33, came in at 146¾ pounds.
Ivan Redkach can’t help but feel fans and odds-makers have completely dismissed him in his fight against Danny Garcia. That disrespect has inspired Redkach, much the way it did before the Ukrainian veteran defeated Devon Alexander seven months ago. Redkach was viewed as a tune-up opponent for Alexander, but the left-handed underdog upset Alexander by sixth-round knockout June 1 at Soboba Casino Resort in San Jacinto, California.
NEW YORK – Danny Garcia reminded Ivan Redkach during a press conference Thursday that he’s not Devon Alexander. In fact, Garcia doesn’t even credit Redkach for beating the real Devon Alexander in his last fight. Redkach dropped Alexander three times and knocked him out in the sixth round of their June 1 bout, but Garcia noted that the version of Alexander that Redkach defeated didn’t resemble the Alexander who won world titles in the junior welterweight and welterweight divisions.
NEW YORK – The closer they get to their fight, the more Ivan Redkach senses Danny Garcia considers it simply a tune-up for bigger fights against southpaws Errol Spence Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Redkach previously believed Garcia viewed him as a dangerous opponent, despite the wide odds on their 12-round welterweight fight Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Not anymore.
Just three weeks into the new year, favored fighters from Philadelphia already have lost twice in televised main events in 2020. Light heavyweight contender Joe Smith Jr. dropped and out-pointed Jesse Hart in a main event ESPN aired January 11 from Atlantic City, New Jersey. And Jeison Rosario, a huge underdog compared to Smith, stopped Julian Williams in the fifth round Saturday night of a 154-pound title fight FOX aired from Philadelphia.
