Former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs will be looking to punish Gabriel Rosado on Friday, Nov. 27, when they collide behind closed doors at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Jacobs (36-3, 30 KOs) officially move up in weight last December when he fought Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Phoenix, Arizona.
Chavez was overweight for the bout and they were forced to meet at the light heavyweight limit. Jacobs picked up a stoppage win when Chavez complained of a broken nose and claimed that he was unable to continue due to breathing issues.
Rosado (25-12-1, 14 KOs), who picked up a decision win in his last outing, appeared on the undercard of the Jacobs-Chavez card in Phoenix and traded words with Jacobs.
For some time, the two boxers have verbally clashed in interviews and on social media.
In March of last year, he nearly derailed Maciej Sulecki in a battle that saw Rosado rally in the later rounds to badly hurt the Polish boxer.
Jacobs is tried of Rosado's trash talk and wants to put him away for good. At 34-years-old, the contest is potentially the last high profile opportunity to for Rosado, who in the past lost bouts with Gennadiy Golovkin, Peter Quillin, Jermell Charlo, David Lemiuex and Alfredo Angulo.
“Gabe talked his way into this fight and now it’s time to see if he can back it up,” said Jacobs.
“He’s got a big mouth and he’s been bringing up my name constantly for over a year – but on Nov. 27 the talking stops and I can’t wait to shut him up. My aim is to become a two-weight division world champion in 2021 and that starts with a big win in Florida. After that, I’m ready to step up and fight one of the World champions at 168 pounds.”
