The Daily Bread Mailbag returns with Stephen 'Breadman' Edwards gives his thoughts on Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Amir Khan, Danny Garcia not calling out Floyd Mayweather Jr., Errol Spence vs. Chris Algieri, and more.

Your boy J-Rock gets better and better every fight. He’s very patient but he rarely loses rounds. That’s a great combination. That kid could be the best fighter in the game 25 and under. My question is about another Philly Fighter. Danny Garcia. I know you’re big on Garcia but I think Danny gets a pass for not going after Floyd Mayweather. Year after year we watch less deserving fighters get the fight and Danny never says a word. Historically it may not seem like a duck but there is no way a fighter with the credentials of Garcia 20 years ago, would just allow himself to be overlooked with a life changing purse within reach. What’s your take on it?

Bread’s Response: I really don’t have a take. But since you brought it up it Danny is more deserving than Berto, Maidana and Guerrero. Maybe Danny has asked for the fight privately who knows. One thing I will say is Danny never calls anyone out. So his behavior is always consistent. I would love for him to get that fight by the way. He’s a great kid.

Out of all of the active top tier fighters today who do you believe goes in the HOF is they never fought again?

Bread’s Response: Let’s see. Andre Ward, Nonito Donaire, Wladimir Klitschko, Bernard Hopkins, Juan Manuel Marquez, Tim Bradley, Manny Pacquiao and Roman Gonzales.

What do you think of Errol Spence vs Chris Algieri? Algieri doesn’t get any breaks he’s been fighting some ridiculously tough fights.

Bread’s Response: I think it’s  good showcase fight for Spence. I really respect Algieri but I think he’s slightly over his head in this one. He gets hit too clean and doesn’t have the pop to keep Spence honest. High contact, should be exciting but Spence should pull away and either dominate or stop him.

Who you like in these upcoming fights. Broner vs Theopane, Easter vs Mendez, Pacquiao vs Bradley, Martin vs Joshua and Selby vs Hunter?

Bread’s Response: Broner big. Easter big. Bradley by decision. Joshua by ko. Hunter by decision but he needs fair judges. Look for some controversy in that one.

Hey Bread,

Congrats to JRock!  The sky is the limit with you two.

You best still be doing the mailbag!  If so, hopefully its not too soon to break down the keys to victory and likelihood of pulling it off for Khan/Canelo?

Thanks

Adam

Bread’s Response: Of course I’m still doing mailbags bro.

Canelo needs to counterpunch Khan. As fast as Khan is he can be clipped. His speed accentuates the power on the incoming shots. Canelo is a master counterpuncher. He loves to work in the box. Although he’s not a mover and he’s not tall he can usually make you come to him.

Canelo is usually the better fighter in a natural capacity. What I mean by that is no running, just tie the shoestrings of the shoes together, stand in the box and fight. Canelo is always better. Like James Toney, Roberto Duran and Archie Moore. Over the last tow years Canelo has evolved. I was very impressed at what he did to Cotto.

He allowed Cotto to lead then he tore him up with counters to the head and body. I think he will try to do the same thing to Khan.

Khan on the other hand can’t be greedy. He has to punch in 2s and 3s and that’s it. He also has to have an escape route after he gets off. Khan has to close his punches off and make sure he can’t be countered. More has to go right for Khan to win than it does for Canelo to win. Khan has to fight the perfect fight and listen to everything Virgil Hunter says. To the Tee. He can’t deviate whatsoever because he makes too many mistakes when he freelances.
