Crawford: No Reason Why Spence, Thurman Fights Can't Happen!

Terence Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs) is only a few months away from making his welterweight debut.

As the mandatory challenger, Crawford will challenger WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn on June 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The contest was initially scheduled to take place on April 14th at T-Mobile Arena - but Crawford withdrew with a mild injury to his hand.

Beyond a fight with Horn, the welterweight division is fully loaded with fighters like Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Manny Pacquiao, Lucas Matthysse, and numerous others.

Fans are already clamoring for a showdown between Crawford and welterweight champions Spence and Thurman.

Spence (23-0, 20 KOs) is scheduled for action on June 16th, when he takes on an opponent to be officially announced, at a venue in Dallas, Texas. There was a deal reached with mandatory challenger Jose Ocampo, but the contest has yet to be announced.

Thurman is back on May 19 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, also against an opponent to be confirmed.

Crawford sees no reason why either fight can't be made - despite them fighting on different networks.

"If a fight needs to be made, it can be made," Crawford said to the Los Angeles Times. "No matter what the circumstances are, we the fighters need to speak up and make it be known we want to fight each other.

"We go to our promoters and managers and tell them to get it done because at the end of the day, we're the ones fighting, the ones making them the money. So if it's something we really desire to have, I believe it can happen."

While experts are debating which boxer is the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, Crawford believes the choice is easy.

"I don't believe there's that big of an argument. I believe I'm the best pound-for-pound fighter at this date, but who wouldn't think that about himself?" Crawford said. "That's where I'm going to rate myself until I feel otherwise."
