WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford is one of the rising stars in HBO's stable of network fighters.

Another rising superstar is WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

Crawford has a lot of respect for Golovkin's body of work on the network.

"He is doing a great job in his career, he’s doing everything he is suppose to do and he is doing remarkable with his KO streak, and he got the fans wanting to see him," Crawford told

On The Ropes Boxing Radio

.

When asked for his opinion to name a fighter with the ability to derail the GGG train, Crawford looked no further than former super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs).

For much of this year, Ward attempted to get Golovkin in the ring. Golovkin had little to no interest in the fight.

Ward is now moving up to light heavyweight, and a future fight with Golovkin is looking very unlikely at the moment.

Crawford believes Golovkin and his team rejected Ward because of the high risk factor involved. He says Golovkin has plenty of options in his own division and that obviously removes any necessity to face Ward in the immediate future.

"Andre Ward [would beat Golovkin], because he’s the best right now, and also he is the best active boxer right now. It’s a big risk [for Golovkin to face him]. I feel that’s why they wouldn’t take that fight, because there is no need right now to take the fight," Crawford said.
