Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran, who works closely with four-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, is hoping to finalize a fight with Miguel Angel Cotto, also a four division champion, for the month of December.

Beltran announced that Marquez would return to the ring, tentatively this coming July 29th.

"It's not a secret that we want to do that fight [between Marquez and Cotto] for this year and it could be for December. They're talking about Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor for the month of November," said Beltran to ESPN Deportes.

Regarding the return of Juan Manuel, between July 29 or early August, after 37 months of absence from the ring.

"We have talked with him, it is with all the intention that Marquez Boxing is the main promoter and above everything he has the interest. The date is expected to be July-August and we are sure to give the fans a great fight, Mexico needs a fighter like Juan Manuel Marquez right now," Beltran said.

"We only need to finalize the details, headquarters. There are different points that we have talked with him about, everything is very advanced, I dare to say that Juan Manuel Marquez will be back very soon."

Regarding the possible venues for Márquez's return, Beltran revealed that Mexico City, Tijuana and Cancun are some possibilities, although the most important details are still to be defined, including the economic agreement with Mexican boxing legend.

Marquez has been out of the ring since May of 2014, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over former world champion Mike Alvarado at The Forum in Los Angeles. Cotto has been away since November 2015, when he lost a twelve round decision over Mexican star Saul "Canelo Alvarez at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Cotto recently parted ways with promoter Roc Nation Sports.
