WBC middleweight champion Miguel Angel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) will leave Puerto Rico on December 7th and heads to Los Angeles, California, to officially start training with his coach Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym. Cotto will be accompanied by close friend and Miguel Cotto Promotions CEO Bryan Perez.

Cotto, inactive since a June TKO of Sergio Martinez, was going to return to action on a December date but made a decision to postpone his next ring appearance to 2015. There are now ongoing discussions for Cotto to face Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) on May 2nd.

"We'll be in Los Angeles next week. Miguel train with Freddie for few days to maintain [himself physically]. Previously we were with him in September and now we will stay a week," said Perez to ESPN Deportes.

"Still nothing is official [on Canelo]. We are in the middle of negotiations. Meanwhile, Miguel has remained working and running, to maintain [his physical condition]. The interesting thing about this moment in time is that Miguel is in an excellent position to choose his next opponent and what benefits him best."
