Coldwell Wants To See Improvements in Anthony Fowler Return

Anthony Fowler returns to action in Manchester on July 6th as he looks to rebound from March’s shocking setback to Scott Fitzgerald.

Identified as one of British boxing’s brightest prospects, Fowler was on course to be challenging for domestic titles once Fitzgerald was out the way, but a spirited effort from the Preston fight caused a massive upset and now Fowler has to pick himself up.

Under the tutelage of Dave Coldwell, Fowler is under a trainer with vast experience and the Sheffield coach remains confident that his charge can still push on.

“It was a hard fight, but probably the fight he needed,” revealed Coldwell.

“For so long I think there was a big part of Anthony that thought he was unbeatable and that Fitzgerald didn’t belong in the same ring as him. He’s found out the hard way and now he knows what’s required to push on and become the fighter that I believe he can be. He’s not the first fighter to lose on the way up and he won’t ne the last, but some small things have to change, and I hope I see that on July 6th.”

With the domestic 154lb scene heating up, Coldwell is desperate for Fowler to return to winning ways.

“He needs a win on this show and there’s no getting away from that. He wants to be fighting for British belts against good guys and to do that he’s got to get the Fitzgerald loss out his system and push on. He’s young enough and talented enough to put this behind him, but I need to see improvements right away. July can’t come quick enough for Fowler.”

Fowler was far too dismissive and overconfident going into that bout, but I'm sure he'll learn from it.
