Unified Women’s Super Middleweight World Champion Claressa Shields dominated previously undefeated Tori Nelson en route to a 10-round unanimous decision in the main event of ShoBox: The New Generation Friday on SHOWTIME from Turning Stone Resort Casino. Shields controlled from opening to closing bell, sweeping 100-90 on all three judges’ scorecards in the first 10-round distance fight of her career. Promoter Dmitriy Salita proudly announces the signing of undefeated women's unified world middleweight champion Christina Hammer to a multi-fight promotional contract. Already a superstar in Europe, "Lady Hammer" (22-0, 10 KOs), from Dortmund, Germany, (via Novodolinka, Kazakhstan) is the current WBC and WBO Middleweight Champion. She has also previously held the WBF Middleweight, as well as WBO and WBF Super Middleweight Championships.
The long awaited comeback of 38-year old former WBA and WBC super middleweight champ Mikkel Kessler is on hold. Earlier this fall Kessler was hit by a case borrelia and the ex-champ told TV 2 Sporten in Denmark he is only in light training and is still not fully recovered. Ricard Olsen has announced his retirement from boxing following some knee problems.
"Who's better than me?" Shields asked after pummeling Nikki Adler on Friday night, giving the two-time Olympic champion the Women's WBC and IBF Super Middleweight world titles. "I don't know of anybody yet. And if I do find somebody, I'm ready to take her out."
Bosnian light heavyweight Emil Markic, 33, improved his record to 24-1, 19 KOs, with the second-round stoppage of overmatched (as always) Georgian opponent Beka Aduashvili (21-10, 11 KOs), 19, who was stopped in nine of his ten losses and who has never won outside of his native land. Markic's record, though impressive on paper, tells little about his boxing ability as the Bosnian has never won of anyone of note.
