The fight many are calling the best pound for pound fighter in the world, Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez, says it's very possible that he'll have the opportunity to meet, and exceed, the record of 49-0 that Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently matched with heavyweight great Rocky Marciano.
Mayweather matched Marciano's record earlier this month when he got a twelve round unanimous decision over Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Already at 43-0, including 37 knockouts and only 28 years of age, the three division world champion is getting ready his 44th bout on October 17th against Brian Viloria at Madison Square Garden in New York, as part of the HBO Pay-Per-View card to Gennady Golovkin, against David Lemieux.
Gonzalez is younger and more active than Mayweather, who announced his retirement after beating Berto but many expect him to return in 2016 to pursue fight win number 50.
"I really believe that I can [break it], given the conditions that we have and desire to win that night (October 17 vs. Brian Viloria) and the many fights that are going to come after this fight, if we keep doing the best job we can - we can achieved great things," Gonzalez said.
