Former world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) is very hungry to become the first fighter from Mexico to capture a world championship at 168-pounds.

Chavez is looking to step in the ring with WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack. If that fight doesn't come together, then Chavez would be wiling to face IBF champion James DeGale. Chavez and DeGale are both managed by Al Haymon. Jack is promoted by Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is also managed by Haymon.

Chavez is still going to move forward with trainer Robert Garcia. There was some talk of reuniting with former trainer Freddie Roach, but that won't happen for the moment. Chavez wants to give Garcia another shot with a much longer camp.

The Mexican boxer suffered a bad hand injury during his decision win over Marcos Reye and believes he will be fully healed by the first quarter of 2016.

"Jack remains as the first choice, he's a very good option. But if there is a fight with DeGale, it's a big fight, he is a good champion, and whichever of the two I'd welcome because it's a fight for the world championship," Chavez Jr. told ESPN Deportes.

"For the fight, I'm going to be with Robert Garcia. We talked about Freddie Roach. I did talk to him and the truth of matter is that yes I would train with him, I do not rule that out, but none of us want to make a hasty decision or be ungrateful with Robert Garcia because I only gave him five weeks to work with me for last fight and now I want to work with him for two and a half months to see what I can learn. Robert is absolutely available to help and also has a lot of faith in me and that's important, and along with my team (Vladimir Baldenebro, Luis Cornejo and Hector Pavon) I think we're going to do important things."
