Charr vs. Oquendo Looms For September 29 in Cologne

By Per Ake Persson

WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Manuel Charr will defend the title against Fres Oquendo on September 29 in Cologne, Germany, writes BILD. The fight was first set for May 4 in Chicago after Team Oquendo won purse bids for the right to promote the fight.

However, according to BILD there´s financial difficulties and now Charr gets the fight to Germany.

The 45-year old Oquendo, 37-8, last fought four years ago in losing a close call to Ruslan Chagaev. Charr, 31-4, has one fight in two years and that was when he won the title with a points win over Alexander Ustinov late last year.
