ARLINGTON, Texas – The first time Jermell Charlo came away with a result he disliked, he knocked out Tony Harrison in the 11th round of their rematch.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The first time Jermell Charlo came away with a result he disliked, he knocked out Tony Harrison in the 11th round of their rematch.

Unified WBC, WBA and IBF super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo is preparing for his upcoming fight against WBO world champion Brian Castano.

Las Vegas, Nevada - Junior middleweight contender Sebastian Fundora (19-0-1, 13 KOs) was forced to get off the floor to stop Erickson Lubin (24-2, 17 KOs) in nine rounds.

It was somewhat frustrating for Erickson Lubin to watch Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano fight to a split draw July 17 in San Antonio. Three weeks earlier, Lubin knocked out former IBF/IBO/WBA 154-pound champion Jeison Rosario in the sixth round of what was considered a very risky fight for a contender who clearly has been willing to fight anyone while attempting to rebuild his career following a devastating defeat to Charlo in October 2017.

Unified WBC, WBA and IBF World Champion Jermell Charlo and WBO World Champion Brian Castano will meet in a rematch of one of 2021’s most significant fights as again seek to become the first ever undisputed 154-pound champion in the four-belt era on Saturday, May 14 live on SHOWTIME from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson headlining a Premier Boxing Champions event. Charlo vs. Castano II was previously announced to take place on March 19, but was rescheduled after Castano suffered an arm injury in training.

Tim Tzsyu (20-0) is set to make his United States debut on Saturday night at the Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota against former U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha (22-2-1). The fight headline a Showtime televised tripleheader.

The undisputed junior middleweight championship rematch between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano making its way back to the Showtime schedule was a priority for several reasons.

Jermell Charlo is none too pleased with how the proceedings of his upcoming rematch with Brian Castano has thus far played out. The 154-pound full unification clash pitting Charlo’s WBA, WBC, and IBF titles against Castano’s WBO belt, was supposed to take place March 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, but Castano ended up suffering a right biceps injury, forcing him to withdraw. The fight, as BoxingScene.com previously reported, has been rescheduled for May 14 on Showtime, although the venue has not yet been determined. Their first bout, which took place last July at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, ended in a somewhat controversial split decision draw.

Jermell Charlo is aware that his intense skepticism of Brian Castano’s recent biceps injury may make him sound like he is some Zapruder film debunker.

The delay in a ruling from the WBO proved to be well worth the wait for Brian Castano. Boxingscene.com has confirmed that Castano has been approved to proceed with his rescheduled undisputed junior middleweight championship rematch with lineal/WBA/WBC/IBF champion Jermell Charlo. The division’s top two fighters were forced to wait more than two weeks for the WBO to make their final ruling, with the Puerto Rico-based sanctioning body permitting Castano to bypass his mandatory title defense in favor of a second fight with Charlo which will take place May 14 on Showtime from a location to be determined.
