Heavyweight contender 'Prince' Charles Martin is still very much focused on landing another world title shot.
Martin captured the IBF world title back in 2016 with a stoppage of Czar Glazkov, but his reign lasted for only one fight as he was knocked out a few months later by Anthony Joshua.
He then won two fights in a row before losing a close decision to Adam Kownacki last year. He's won two fights since and wants to face a top contender to secure a world title shot.
"Everything is mental, I went through a lot of stuff and it made me crazy. I needed to get out of that dark side. I'm a champion with a champion's mentality and a champion's spirit. I am not a normal person. I knew what I had to do, and I did it. I overcome things. It has made me stronger. I'm happy that I've endured these things. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," Martin said to Sky Sports.
Martin has stopped training in the mountains at Big Bear and is currently doing well at Legendz Gym in Los Angeles.
Martin is inspired by the recent run of success from Andy Ruiz, who shocked the world back in June when he stopped Joshua for the WBO, IBO, IBF, WBA world titles.
"We have been doing it together, sweat and tears every day," Martin said of Ruiz Jr. "I see it's obtainable to be two-time heavyweight champion.
"That's reality. It ain't no dream when the champ walks into the building. That's reality, he's right there. You become a king overnight. From a pawn to a king. Life changes, you know?
"I'm spiritual and that is my own personal strength. You've got to be strong in this world. Make yourself known, walk with confidence, be your own man. When I wake up and look in the mirror, I am my own strength. That's always been there, man."
