Carlos Castro: record, next fight and profile →
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas - Carlos Castro (27-0, 11 KOs) turned in the finest performance of his career, stopping former world title challenger Oscar Escandon (26-6, 18 KOs) in the 10th round of their back-and-forth featherweight encounter.

LAS VEGAS – Carlos Castro avoided what could’ve been a disastrous debut Saturday night with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions. The undefeated Castro overcame early trouble against Oscar Escandon and stopped the Colombian power puncher in the final round of their 10-round featherweight fight at T-Mobile Arena. Phoenix’s Castro (27-0, 12 KOs), who went off as an 11-1 favorite at MGM Grand’s sports book, scored knockdowns during the seventh and 10th rounds before referee Celestino Ruiz stopped the opener of the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas pay-per-view show.
LAS VEGAS – Carlos Castro’s disappointment didn’t last long. Barely a day elapsed from the time that the undefeated 122-pound contender’s hometown fight was scrapped and he was added to the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas undercard Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. Castro’s opponent, Oscar Escandon, remained the same, but their fight will take place one week earlier than planned.
LAS VEGAS - One of the more interesting fights on the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas pay-per-view undercard is the opening bout. Unbeaten super bantamweight/featherweight prospect Carlos Castro (26-0) and former interim featherweight champion Oscar Escandon (26-5) promised fireworks during their fight week press conference.
Ceja, Magsayo Weights Photos Gallery - Eight-division world champion and Philippine Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and WBA Welterweight World Champion Yordenis Ugas went face-to-face Friday at the official weigh-in before they meet in the highly anticipated FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View main event this Saturday, August 21 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS – Yordenis Ugas towered over Manny Pacquiao the afternoon before the biggest fight of Ugas’ career. The 5-feet-9 Ugas stands nearly four inches taller than Pacquiao, who has fared well against significantly bigger opponents throughout his career. The 42-year-old Pacquiao is still listed as more than a 3-1 favorite to beat Ugas in their FOX Sports Pay-Per-View main event Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.
