Carlos Adames: record, next fight and profile →
Patrick Teixeira survived two cuts and a major gut check to earn the biggest win of his improving career. A momentum-swinging 7th round knockdown provided the margin of victory as Teixeira scored an upset 12-round decision over Carlos Adames in their interim junior middleweight title fight Saturday evening at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Frampton, McCreary, Valdez Weights Photos Gallery - Andres Gutierrez was removed from Saturday’s main event against former featherweight world champion Oscar Valdez, as he weighed in at 141 pounds, 11 pounds above the contract weight. Featherweight contender Adam Lopez (13-1, 6 KOs), from Glendale, Calif., stepped up to replace Gutierrez, and he will be in the opposite corner at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in a WBC super featherweight world title eliminator. Lopez was originally set to defend his Jr. NABF featherweight title against Luis Coria, but he jumped at the opportunity to face Valdez, who will be making his super featherweight debut.
Oscar Valdez and Carl Frampton venture into new territory, with the pair of former featherweight titlists both debuting in the junior lightweight division. The two appear in separate bouts in Saturday evening’s ESPN+ livestream from The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada, although Mexico’s Valdez (26-0, 20KOs) might see a delay in his journey following Friday’s weigh-in. The two-time Mexican Olympian weighed 129.8 pounds for his first fight since abandoning a featherweight title reign which featured six successful defenses.
Carlos Adames and Patrick Teixeira were supposed to meet Saturday night in an elimination match to determine the mandatory challenger for the WBO’s junior middleweight title. Now that WBO 154-pound champion Jaime Munguia officially has moved up to middleweight, the WBO has sanctioned Adames-Teixeira as a fight for an interim portion of that championship in Las Vegas.
The rising iron-fisted star of the 154-pound division, Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames, will lock horns with Patrick Teixeira in a 12-round WBO junior middleweight title eliminator Saturday, Nov. 30 at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Pechanga Resort & Casino, Temecula, California - In a bout for the NABO, NABF junior middleweight titles, Carlos Adames (18-0, 14 KOs) came close to stopping Patrick Day (17-3-1, 6 KOs) in the final round, but had to settle for a ten round unanimous decision.
Carlos Adames thinks highly of himself that he wants to fight the best fighters at 154 pounds. He also believes he can one day fight and defeat Canelo Alvarez. Adames must get by a stern test against a fighter who is on a winning streak and would love nothing more than to pull off the upset win. The unbeaten Adames will face Patrick Day tonight at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California. The 10-round bout will precede the main event bout between IBF lightweight titleholder Richard Commey and Ray Beltran.

Something has to give. IBF lightweight world champion Richard Commey is one of the division’s biggest punchers. For his first title defense, he’ll face a rugged ex-champion who hasn’t been knocked out in more than a decade.
