Carlos Adames: record, next fight and profile →
On October 8 from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, top middleweights Carlos Adames and Juan Macias Montiel will square off for the interim-WBC middleweight title in a Showtime televised co-main event.
Sebastian Fundora has an opponent for his plan to stay sharp while waiting for his shot at the WBC super welterweight title. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the undefeated Fundora will box Carlos Ocampo in the main event of a “Showtime Championship Boxing” tripleheader October 8. The 6-foot-6 Fundora will defend his WBC interim 154-pound championship when he meets Mexico’s Ocampo in a 12-round bout that likely will take place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Carlos Adames (21-1) Is shaking his head at recent comments made by Jaime Munguia (38-0). The Tijuana, Mexico native is scheduled to take on D’Mitrius Ballard on February 19th in his hometown in a DAZN streamed main event.
Jaime Munguia entered his most recent fight under the impression that his next one would come in a final eliminator. A string of events prevented that from happening, with the unbeaten former WBO junior middleweight titlist instead settling for activity rather than waiting on perhaps the more significant opportunity.
Carlos "El Caballo Bronco" Adames did his part and now he hopes Jaime Munguia does his. Back in November, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said that he would order the winner of the Sergiy Derevyenchenko-Carlos Adames showdown to face Jaime Munguia to determine the mandatory challenger for the organization's champion, Jermall Charlo.
After he outboxed world title challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko (13-4, 10 KOs) in a WBC title elimination bout this past Sunday, Carlos Adames (21-1, 16 KOs) now has his sights set on conquering Jaime Munguia (38-0, 30 KOs), in a winner takes all to fight for the WBC world title against Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs).

LOS ANGELES – Sergiy Derevyanchenko suffered yet another close loss Sunday night. Carlos Adames got off to a strong start, withstood Derevyanchenko’s rally in the second half of their fight and won a majority decision in their 10-round middleweight match. Judge Jerry Cantu scored their competitive, compelling contest a draw, 95-95, but judges Tiffany Clinton (97-93) and Damian Walton (96-93) credited Adames with a victory on the Gervonta Davis-Issac Cruz undercard at Staples Center.
